Background
As you are likely aware, the ongoing MARA Program aims to migrate the existing infrastructure into a secure and reliable Microsoft environment and that comes with leveraging the capabilities of new tools, such as Power BI from the category of self-service business intelligence tools. It is already greatly used as the reporting platform within the WWF International Secretariat and the WWF International offices and is optimised for a deep integration with the Microsoft ecosystem.
In general, what are self-service analytical tools? They empower business users (non-technical users) to perform data analysis, create reports, and generate insights independently, without needing to rely on IT or data experts. These tools are designed to be user-friendly and intuitive, allowing users to explore and manipulate data, create visualizations, and derive insights with minimal technical knowledge. They often feature drag-and-drop interfaces, pre-built templates, and guided workflows to simplify the analytical process.
Microsoft Power BI enables us to:
- Integrate data from disparate sources, both on-premises and in-cloud
- Create reusable data sets adhering to the highest standards in data integrity and quality
- Visualize and analyse data seamlessly
- Create interactive dashboards and reports
- Make better business decisions based on timely insights
- Collaborate and share insights with teams and stakeholders
